November 30th, 2007

For a personalized gift give your favorite cookie, brownie or cake recipe and place the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl along with instructions to complete the dessert. This is a nice gift for families since they can do some holiday baking together. You can add other items such as a silicone […]

November 28th, 2007

Kellie’s Post:
My mom is a recently retired preschool teacher from a well-respected private preschool in New Jersey. She has been a teacher for her entire career and has taught at all levels from preschool to Middle school in Hawaii as well as the mainland. Naturally, she’s a great resource for me now […]

Kindle: Amazon’s New Wireless Reading Device

November 27th, 2007

Have you heard of this? A Kindle? If you have no clue what I’m talking about do not feel bad, I had never heard of it until last week when TSO told me about it. I mistakenly thought he wanted to put a spark in our romance. […]

Holiday Recipe: Stuffing-Stuffed Mushrooms

November 26th, 2007

I found this recipe that uses leftover stuffing in Every Day with Rachael Ray (November 2007, www.rachaelraymag.com). Besides the stuffing all you need is two other ingredients (we’re talking simple). We ate these last night and TSO and I both liked them.

Holiday Recipe: Leftover Turkey Pot Pie

November 25th, 2007

This is another one from allrecipes.com (I told you I loved this site!). What I like about this particular recipe is that you can use your leftover gravy. I suggest you consider the sodium content of your gravy before using this recipe though. If your gravy is salty then this might […]

Holiday Recipe: Crisp Mashed Potato Cakes

November 25th, 2007

This is a delicious way to fix up leftover mashed potatoes from a holiday dinner or any other meal. I found it in a recent issue of Cooking Light and enjoyed it so much I had to share it with all of you. I have changed the recipe slightly by adding in […]

Recipe: McKinley Turkey Corn Scallop

November 24th, 2007

This recipe came from the Honolulu Advertiser a few years back. I believe the recipe is originally from McKinley High School’s cafeteria (hence the name) – and it totally tastes like school cafeteria food (which may or may not be bad, depending on your school experience)! What I like about this recipe is […]

Gift Idea: Computer Game Software

November 24th, 2007

OK, some of you may not agree with encouraging our kids to be sitting at a computer all day (that stuff is better left to us busy mamas). But there’s an extensive selection of computer games and activities available for kids of all ages that can be surprisingly educational. These games may even […]

Holiday Recipe: Thanksgiving Leftover Casserole

November 23rd, 2007

Once again, I discovered this recipe on allrecipes.com. The only thing I changed on this recipe was I added more turkey, which I increased to 2 cups, but it could actually use more. The family enjoyed this one and I liked that I could use up our leftover mashed potatoes as well!
