The highlight of a Disney vacation for young kids is meeting their favorite Disney characters. Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, Tigger, and Buzz Lightyear are just a few of the many friends they will have the opportunity to see.

Birthday Party Venue: Waikiki Aquarium

January 30th, 2008

Our daughter’s first birthday bash was held at the Waikiki Aquarium (WAQ) on the outskirts of Waikiki. It’s a cute little aquarium and is a wonderful location to host a private party. The aquarium is situated on beachfront property with an expansive grassy lawn to set up tables and food for guests.

Pinata Filler

January 29th, 2008

My oldest son just celebrated his 5th birthday. His favorite thing right now is
LEGO Bionicle. He can sit and play with them for hours. It was no surprise that he wanted a LEGO Bionicle party. Instead of filling the pinata with the usual fillers (you know cavity magnets and […]

Tidepools at Sandy Beach

January 28th, 2008

One of our favorite weekend activities is to go to the tidepools and check out the critters that live there. Once in a while we’ll even catch some to take home for our saltwater tank. The tidepools at Sandy Beach on the eastern side of the island are a great place […]

Recipe: Ono (delicious) Lasagna Stew

January 27th, 2008

TSO does not like Hamburger Helper but when I discovered this recipe using Hamburger Helper in a cookbook I recently got, Annie’s Favorite Favorites Island Style Cooking by Annie Yonashiro, it seemed so simple that I had to try it. The ease of this meal won over any grief TSO might give me […]

My second son turned three while we were on our big trip and what better way to celebrate than a party at the Happiest Place on Earth? There are many different birthday options to choose from at Disneyland but we chose the “My Disneyland Birthday Party” at the Plaza Inn on Main […]

A Tale of Two Stools

January 22nd, 2008

If you’re the parent of a toddler, you know the headaches and nightmares of potty training. I hear some people say that it was a piece of cake and their child was trained in a week with no problems. One person I know even claims that she had all three of her children […]

Kindle: Finally Shipped

January 21st, 2008

I just received an email from Amazon advising me that TSO’s Kindle has been shipped. When I ordered the Kindle in December Amazon was out of stock and I had no idea when they would have more (not to cool when it’s supposed to be a Christmas gift). TSO is just thrilled that he […]
