Laundry Dropps

In keeping with my effort to become more environmentally conscious, I decided to try Laundry Dropps, an eco-friendly alternative to laundry detergent that comes in large plastic jugs. Dropps are pre-measured packs (much like those you use for the dishwasher) of highly-concentrated detergent that dissolve in water. One resealable pouch of Laundry Dropps holds enough packs for approximately 20 loads of laundry - and when you’re done there is only a small plastic bag to dispose of - not a big honking plastic jug that will take years to break down in the landfill and barely fits down my condo’s trash chute.

Dropps make measuring detergent so easy when you’re doing laundry and you don’t have to worry about spills and messy leaking jugs. The compactness of the product also makes it great for those that live in apartment buildings or college dormitories that use communal laundry rooms. Imagine never having to lug a big heavy bottle of detergent with your laundry basket full of dirty clothes! Come to think of it, our friend’s daughter will be leaving for college at USC (Go Trojans!) this summer and this will make a great gift along with some other dorm room essentials.

I’ve always been a big fan of Tide detergent (mainly out of habit) and Dropps work just as well as my old favorite. I would definitely continue to use Dropps since they are convenient, reasonably priced, and great for the environment. The only problem is that they are hard to find in Hawaii. I could only find them online although they are sold at Wal-Mart and Target. Hopefully as word gets out about the product they will be available in more stores.
