Stuff for Sprouts

My son has suffered from dry skin and mild cases of eczema since he was born. And running the air conditioner all night at home certainly doesn’t help his condition - but it’s better than letting us all sweat like pigs around here. His pediatrician is always reminding me to apply lotion to his oddly baby soft, yet lizard-like skin (I kid!) because I’m so bad about this kind of stuff. However, I recently became more vigilant about his skin care regimen when he came down with a case of Impetigo - on his butt no less! Poor guy had patches of open sores on his teeny little butt cheeks from scratching so much (hmm, scratching his butt…fixing his dingle…I’m sensing a male trend here…) and I felt terrible when the doctor told me it was because of his dry skin condition.
Our doctor always recommends Cetaphil lotion but personally I find the whole fragrance-free thing kind of boring. You can ask my husband about that. Whenever he goes to the mainland I always send him to Bath and Body Works with a mile long list of bath products to get and he comes home with a suitcase full of body washes and lotions (the BBW obsession is a total Hawaii thing, really, it’s not just me!).
Since I know my son isn’t sensitive to fragrances I decided to try something that was good for his skin yet smelled fun. Stuff for Sprouts fits the bill perfectly! I heard about this natural product on the internet and was drawn by the yummy fragrances they offer. Stuff for Sprouts makes lotion in a regular formula for “crunchy” kids, and a richer formula for “extra crunchy” kids. Their ingredients consist of natural butters and oils with no phthlates or artificial colors.
I tried both versions since I wasn’t sure which one was better suited for my son and got it in the Blueberry Muffin and Jellybean fragrances. Yum! They smelled so good and did a wonderful job moisturizing his skin. And my son loved it so much he decided to share the Jellybean lotion with the furniture and carpet in his room - the whole tube. When asked why he did that his response was: “because I wanted to”. Oh. Okay. Well at least the little stinker is honest. So how, you may ask, do I know if the crunchy lotion was good when the whole tube was turned into finger paint? Because I scraped it off the carpet and bunk bed ladder, picked out the hair and lint, and smeared what I could on myself, my son, and my daughter. How’s that for crunchy lotion? Yup, mommyhood at it’s finest.
Seeing how I need more Jellybean lotion already, the next time I order a supply I think I’ll stick to the regular Crunchy formula. I prefer lighter lotions and it did a great job of helping my son (and the furniture) with his dry skin.

That sounds great! My youngest is slightly red-haired, with the sensitive skin that goes along with it… I have to deal with dry skin a lot, especially in winter cuz it’s very dry this close to the mountains!

Looks like a good product. I’m always on the lookout for natural products, esp one that will help with my son’s occasional eczema breakouts. He gets the itchy red bumps on his elbows and calves and I hate to see him scratch.
I like the cute logo too.
