The Lion King

December 25th, 2007

When it was announced that Disney’s The Lion King was coming to town I had to see it. TSO and I got tickets for ourselves and our two older boys (we arranged for our youngest to spend the afternoon with Grandma).

The show was amazing! The costumes and sets were breathtaking. The actors did a remarkable job of bringing the animals to life with their movements. Add all of the music you loved from the movie, “Circle of Life” and “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King”, and it was truly a memorable performance.

The boys were in awe and the looks on their faces made it worth every penny. Granted my second child (2 going on 3 years old) fell asleep and missed the first 20 minutes of the show but once awake he had a good time. We probably should have held off on taking him until he was a little older in order for him to see the entire show but regardless it was still worthwhile.

This was not a cheap activity, our tickets were over $100 each and we were in the back! Adults and children paid the same price but it was truly worth it. Bottle of water at intermission $5, Lion King souvenir program $30, ticket to the show $100, the excitement on the faces of my sons…PRICELESS.

The Lion King is a great introduction to the theatre world for young children. I highly recommend it so check out the Disney website to see if they will be performing in your area and get your tickets now. I promise you will not be disappointed!
